Lower Key Stage Two - Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats and Possums
Hello and welcome to LKS2's Online Classroom space!
We will be releasing one Maths and one English lesson Monday to Friday during the current period of school closure. We have provided guidance for each subject and we suggest that you try to keep it as fun and positive as possible. We do not expect children to hand any work in but all of us understand the importance of keeping children's learning going during this time.
Keeping children active is also important during the school closure period. A couple of suggestions include:
Thank you and happy learning!
Mrs Chende, Ms Wayte, Mr Skertchly and Mr Garrett
P.S. There is no need to print any worksheets! They can use either their handwriting books or scrap paper to write out their answers. Alternatively, parents can discuss the answers with children instead of writing them out.
LKS2 Maths and Writing Targets
Please see the target sheets for your child's year group.
For English, LKS2 teachers suggest that children read or are read to for 20 minutes a day using the class novel The Last Wild by Piers Torday. This novel is quite challenging, but enjoyable for Year 3 and 4 children, so they will need support with some of the concepts and vocabulary. Alongside this reading, LKS2's English work will follow a familiar format each week. Each lesson should take children approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
The format is as follows:
We have provided a guidance document for parents below, along with a completed example of a Vocabulary Tuesday activity.
Latest English Lessons - Week 30/03/2020 - 03/04/2020
Please see the completed example (linked above) if you require more help with this activity.
Please read through the guidance document before attempting the activity.
We will be using White Rose Maths Home Learning to support your children's maths learning during this time.
A regular daily learning routine will help your child to learn more effectively at home. We therefore recommend that you aim to cover just one 20-30 minute White Rose Maths session each day
How to use the White Rose Maths sessions:
We ask pupils to complete 1 lesson a day, Monday to Friday. There is a video explaining each learning step and a worksheet, along with an answer sheet so that children can mark their work.
