Admissions & Prospective Parents
Preschool
Robin Preschool admits children from 2 years old throughout the year and has its own admissions policy. The youngest children usually start with one or two sessions a week, but can attend for whole school days. There is a class for 2-3 year olds and a class for 3-4 year olds.
To apply to Robin Preschool please see their website http://www.robin-playgroup.co.uk , or email admissions@robin-preschool.co.uk.
Do I have to pay?
Most children have to pay to attend Robin Preschool until the term after their third birthday after which the government provides 15 hours of free education/childcare for all children. On our site this can be used for sessions in Robin or Magpies or a combination of the two. The 15 hours can be used flexibly in Robin: e.g. any five mornings or afternoon sessions plus two lunch clubs. At present any childcare over and above the 15 hours is chargeable, however from September 2017 the government is also funding 30 hours for children of working parents . Both settings accept childcare vouchers. Robin Preschool also accepts children referred by Health Visitors for 2 year old funded places.
Once a child starts primary school they are entitled to a free full-time place. Parents/carers may choose for their child to attend part-time until the term after their fifth birthday. Parents/carers only pay if they use Magpies for childcare before or after school.
Primary School Admissions
As a community school there are no special admissions criteria for entry to our primary school and the Oxfordshire County Council admissions policies apply.
We are always happy to give parents information about admission to the primary school in person, by telephone, or by email - please do contact us. Prospective parents are very welcome to visit for a tour of the school and preschool.
Admissions for 4 year olds is conducted by the local authority (0345 241 2487 or refer to the Oxfordshire Admissions pages). Parents will receive an admissions pack from the Oxfordshire LA in the autumn term after their child’s third birthday. Places are allocated in late spring for the following September.
For older children please see the Oxfordshire Transferring or Moving School page for when and how to apply. You are very welcome to contact the school for help with this process. Please do let us know directly if you have applied through Oxfordshire so that we can liaise with Admissions.
