Absence, illness and medicines
For absence because of illness, please notify school by sending a ParentMail Absence message.
If you need to take your child out of school for any other reason please inform us through the ParentMail Absence app - please type in the dates your child will be absent and the reason. This includes absence for medical appointments, etc. Please note that holiday absence during term time will not be authorised and that unauthorised absence above 10 sessions (5 days) in 10 weeks will result in a penalty notice. There are some circumstances in which absence may be authorised, e,g, for weddings - we will inform you how many days are authorised if you apply for this. Medicines and Illness If your child is ill they should be kept at home to avoid spreading infection. For sickness and diarrhoea please keep your child off school for 48 hours after the last bout of sickness. Please let us know the details of any serious or recurring medical condition or allergy on admission. If your child needs medication of any sort (including cough sweets, lip salve, skin lotion, inhalers, antibiotics etc) these MUST be handed in at the office by an adult and not left with the child. Parents MUST complete a medication form and the office MUST sign to authorise it before it can be administered in school. Parents should note that it may take some time for authorisation, especially if staff training is required, and they should be prepared to come into school to administer medicines themselves in the meantime. Staff administering medicines do so on a voluntary basis. For short term medication lasting a few days you can use the form on this page. All forms are also available on request from the school office or by emailing [email protected]
